With 16 distinct blocks of Pinot Noir and nine different clones, it is also one of our most diverse vineyards. Varietal Content: 100% Pinot Noir; Cooperage: 100% French oak - 60% new, 20% second vintage, 20% neutral
Winemaker Notes
This rich and opulent wine begins with enticing aromas of ripe strawberry, plump blueberry, baking spices and sweet pine needles. On the palate, the juicy berry flavors are buoyed by firm tannins and lively acidity, with hints of clove and cinnamon adding complexity to a long, lush finish.
Production
The 2016 growing season delivered another exceptional vintage to the Anderson Valley. Early and consistent spring rains provided for an excellent fruit set, followed by ideal summer temperatures, which brought the acidity and flavor profiles of the grapes into perfect balance. This sequence led us to begin harvesting our warmer estate vineyards beginning in mid-August, while a well-timed mid-September heat spike allowed our grapes in the cooler “deep end” of the valley to develop beautiful structures and lush flavors.

I really enjoy this wine. This is the type of Pinot that shows the breadth of what the Goldeneye label can produce. I love Pinot Noir. It's a great red that's robust enough to hold up with most food but not quite the tannin-bomb as, say, a Cabernet can be. This is a really fruity and acidic Pinot, and that's a good thing. This is also a wine that finishes with a little bit of spice, almost some heat. It's a nice finish paired with a rich and enjoyable mouthfeel. It's toothsome yet fresh. It's quite enjoyable overall. This is a great wine that pairs well with food or is really drinkable alone. I completed this review in exchange for compensation and free product, but all views are my own.

I have found a Pinot Noir that I am in LOVE with. This wine has a wonderful flavor, it is smooth & easy to drink. It's perfect for a quiet evening by itself, or it can pair well with food. The great flavor will definitely not get lost! I get aromas of berries & spice. It is definitely a wine I enjoy and hope to enjoy again soon! One of my favorites from Goldeneye without a doubt! We loved the Goldeneye Split Rail Pinot Noir. Pinot Noir is our favorite wine varietal and this is an excellent Pinot Noir from Anderson Valley, California. The wine has a medium intensity nose of red fruit (strawberry, raspberries) with a hint of smoke and spice. It also has a well balanced palate with high acidity, red fruit and soft tannins. It is consistent with aromas, hint of smoke and spice and has a medium finish. We drank the wine with our family and paired it with Indian food.
